Short and sweet… I was reading a Letter to the Editor in the Las Vegas Sun the other day and the person writing stated that people vote for, and feel most comfortable with, other people that are “slightly dumber” then they are – or at least on par with that particular person’s intellectual level.
He went on to state that smarter people scare those of lesser intelligence basically because if you can’t really grasp what a “smarter” person is saying then “they can’t be trusted.”
There’s actually more to the Letter, but that’s sort of it in a nutshell.
I was going to make a big hoopla out of this (because I sort of believe he’s right), but instead of soap boxing this one, I’m throwing this post to the wind to see what comes back
So… what DO you think????

I have come across this before. I agree with you. People are pretty judgmental.Whether someone is smarter or dumber…well that remains to be seen!

I would not say that they are dumber but less confident. And I did not say that so it is “politically correct”. Confidence is all about how much we may know about a certain subject. We are to build people up not tear down. Instead of saying how dumb rather say “maybe you need to research this a little”.

It sounds to me like a rant by someone who isn’t as clever as they think they are.
